IBSA held 6th women’s forum meeting, ministers reaffirm their commitment to address women-centric issues

  The India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) Trilateral Cooperation Forum is a very unique platform that brings together three major economies and large democracies from three different continents. The 6th   edition of India-Brazil- South Africa women’s forum meeting took place on March 16, 2021, via video conferencing. The meeting was led by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, India and it witnessed the participation of officials and ministers responsible for women affairs of IBSA nations. The session of the forum was started with the welcome and opening remarks of the Secretary of Women and Child Development, India. The inaugural address was delivered by the Union Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Irani who was also the Chair of the 6th IBSA Women’s Forum. Sahi Disha: UNDP launches campaign to celebrate women’s livelihood in rural India

  Sahi Disha campaign highlights issues and the hurdles that impact the opportunities of women living in rural India to access livelihoods and jobs.  The United Nations Development Program- UNDP has launched a campaign named ‘Sahi Disha’ in order to celebrate women’s livelihoods and entrepreneurship in the rural part of India. According to a statement by UNDP, the launched campaign highlights issues and the hurdles that impact the opportunities of women living in rural India to access livelihoods and jobs. The campaign also talks about the problems in establishing enterprises that will help women in becoming more self-reliant. About Disha Initiative: The Disha initiative is a five years collaboration between the IKEA Foundation and the United Nations Development Program. It enabled around 1 million women through counselling and skilling services for accessing livelihood and job opportunities in rural India. India and Kuwait to establish Joint Commission to boost ties

  The Joint Commission will formulate a framework for strengthening ties in the sectors such as trade, energy, investment, information technology, and manpower and labour. The Governments of India and Kuwait on March 18, 2021, decided to establish a Joint Ministerial Commission. It will formulate a framework for strengthening ties in the sectors such as trade, energy, investment, information technology, and manpower and labour. The decision of forming a commission was taken during a ministerial meet between the External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al- Mohammed Al-Sabah who has been on a visit to India. Kuwait’s Foreign Minister also handed over a letter to S. Jaishankar. EU proposes COVID-19 pass plan to allow free travel by summer

  The proposal foresees the creation of the vaccine certificates which will facilitate travel from one member state of the EU to another. The executive body of the European Union on March 17, 2021, proposed the introduction of Coronavirus passes. It will allow its 450 million residents to travel freely across the 27 nation-bloc by the summer of 2021. The plan will be discussed next week during the European Union leaders summit.
